Portrait of Andy Warhol

Jackie Kennedy by Andy Warhol 1964

Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol 1962

Andy Warhol is on of the most famous pop artist of his time. His famous Marilyn Monroe and 100 Cans made a new genre of art. The colors of all of his pieces engage the observer. My favorite piece is a portrait of Jackie Kennedy. In this piece of art the eye shadow, earrings, and lipstick all are off centered making it one of a kind.

Andy Warhol was born in 1928, he later died from complications from gallbladder surgery at age 58. In 1968 he was shot two to three times in the chest, making him wear a bandage across his body for the rest of his life. His family is originally from Czechoslovakia. Not only was he a pop artist but also in preforming arts. My favorite quotes are, “I think everybody should like everybody.” and, “I’m afraid that if you look at something long enough, it loses all of its meaning.”

For my project I’m thinking about doing a silkscreen of the same object printed multible times but in different colors. I have different ideas for what my object should be, either a pear, portrait of someone, or a chair. I would use silkscreen paint, and paper. Depending on how it looks, I will maybe use and ink pen to outline and deepen the colors.
